Gnarly Headz

Some may say this design is very controversial but how are you going to increase a hook-up rate on a popper if you keep following the “accepted” norm.  I have my theories about existing poppers and popper head designs and believe that most head designs and finished tied poppers have the same problem, and that is hook exposure.  Either too small hooks are used/suggested, or the hook shank does not follow the correct path through the head.

Hook exposure is probably the most important issue when it comes to designing and tying poppers.  If the hook is not exposed enough or correctly exposed it means that the head design is not right, or the incorrect hook was selected for that specific head.  The information on the “Technical Info” page may help understanding this better.
