SciFlies – A large range of fresh and saltwater flies from small stream dry flies to nymphs, streamers, warmwater surface and subsurface flies, to large offshore flies manufactured in our two facilities in Africa.

Grip Hooks – A large range of high-quality hooks to tie virtually any fly on. This includes a barbless hook developed for various saltwater crustacean patterns, bass bug hooks, trout and yellow fish fly hooks and many other hooks developed for specific species and conditions.

Grip Components – consisting of an ever-growing range of beads, cones and dumbbell eyes in both brass and tungsten as well as 3D eyes, fly shanks and much more.

Grip Tying Materials – This range of materials is growing non-stop and our search for top quality materials is ongoing. From synthetics to a growing range of naturals.

Who We Are

ScientificFly was founded by Arno Laubscher in 2001. His mission was, and still is, to develop high quality fishing products to be distributed to fishermen and women via retail stores not only in South Africa but across the globe. Arno’s fly fishing experience stretches back to the middle 1980’s where he started fly fishing in Northern Kwazulu Natal, South Africa at the age of 12.
